The Council of Ministers of Somalia has dismissed the Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Major General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, and at the same time appointed a new army commander, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed.
The newly appointed Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, was a senior officer within the leadership of the Somali National Army.
In particular, he previously served as the head of the General Support Command of the Somali National Army, a key position to which he was appointed in June 2024 following a presidential decree issued by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The officer was responsible for the technical management of the army, with a specific focus on overseeing the provision of supplies, defense equipment, and the coordination of military transport to ensure that national army operations received the necessary support on the frontlines.
