President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has canceled a planned trip that was scheduled for today due to security concerns.
He was expected to travel to the frontlines of the conflict, specifically to the Jabbad-Godane area, which was recently liberated from the Al-Shabaab group.
The cancellation came after security agencies advised the President not to travel to the area because of security risks.
Reports indicate that security officials informed the President that they could not guarantee his safety if he went there, which led to the trip being called off.
Although the President did not go, a group of journalists had already arrived in the area after being transported there by the Presidency to cover the President’s visit, which ultimately did not take place.
