After one year and three months under house arrest, Ahmed has tonight pardoned Senator Ilyas Badal Gaboose, who had been detained in Kismayo.
In a written statement issued by the President of Jubbaland, it said:
“My brothers, Senator Ilyas Badal Gaboose and Sheikh Dahir Ahmed Abdullahi, and I have agreed that the public interest, peace, and the unity of the people of Jubbaland are above everything else, and that we will work together for the benefit of the people of Jubbaland.
The Jubbaland Government is ready to make unlimited concessions to achieve full unity and solidarity.
We are committed to resolving all political differences through peaceful means, in a way that safeguards the public interest, stability, and the future of the people of Jubbaland.”
